Student Success
“I’m getting my brain sharper! I’ve been working on earlier math with Ms. Sioux (CLC tutor) and I definitely feel like I’m getting better. I’ve also been doing literature and poetry. I’m going to work on more math because I want to get even better than I am now.” -J. (5th grade student)
Math Student Success
“I have learned a lot of math being with Sioux. She is a great tutor. And I now do lots of problems fast. She helped me be able to do things I before wasn’t able to do. Thank you Sioux so much!” – S.S. (6th grade math student)
Pro Tutoring Student Success
“E. had an 83% in pre-algebra before we started tutoring with Sioux. That doesn’t sound too bad, right? But that was only because her homework was so good. She was flunking every test! After just a few weeks of tutoring, her grade is up to a 96% and her last two tests were A’s. She has so much more confidence about her math abilities. I can’t thank you enough! H.S. (parent of a 7th grader)
Siblings’ Success: From Struggling to Honor Roll
“Before coming to the CLC, my son’s grades were D’s and C’s. Since getting tutoring with Ms. Sioux, my son E. went from a D student to B’s and my son S. was on the Honor Roll for two grade periods. I am super grateful and happy they have gone up in grades. Thank you CLC!” –P.G. (mother of 4th and 3rd grade students)

In honor of Bullying Prevention Month, the students of Community Learning Center signed a pledge to not bully and to Treat Others The Way They Want To Be Treated!
Student Success – Straight A’s in School Now!
1st success – “Since I came from another country I was doing bad in school because I didn’t have that much language structure. So I started the tutoring, and in less than two months I was able to improve from 180 to 215 words in the Florida system (testing). My grades last grading period were C’s and D’s. Now I have all B’s and A’s.” -C.R. (high school student)
2nd success a month later – “I’ve got straight A’s at school now!! When I first got here, my grades were mostly C’s and D’s. At my reading class, we have a rotation schedule that has similar reading and comprehension levels. In August, I was in the lowest level, and now that we started the new semester, I am in the highest level.” -C.R. (high school student)
*In less than three months, C.R. made Honor Roll and then Principal’s List and improved her reading scores from a 3rd grade level to a 9th grade level.

CLC Academy student meets award-winning chefs!

CLC Academy student, G., has been dreaming of becoming a chef. He often cooks at home for his mother, father and siblings and he imagines a day when he can help support his family through his profession.
CLC Executive Director, Jen Nickerson, arranged a trip for G. to meet two award-winning chefs. Zoltan (pictured on right) is an Executive Chef and Kevin (pictured on left) ranks #1 young chef in the United States and #2 in the world. They toured G. through their kitchen and shared so much about their occupation with this bright, young boy. G. was able to ask countless questions and was completely inspired by this amazing experience!
CLC Helping in the Community!

CLC Executives were honored to help a CLC Academy family build a new home with Habitat for Humanity Pinellas. Habitat brings community volunteers, corporate donors, civic organizations and faith groups together to build affordable homes for low-income families and individuals. CLC helped with caulking windows and doors, spray foam, exterior paint, clean up and more. We will return during Spring Break at the end of March to help with the final touches. Our CLC Academy family will move into their new home in April!
