Algebra is the study of mathematical statements which are generally true.
In algebra, the statements we study form a pattern which is true no matter what number we put in that pattern.
(4+2) = (2+4)
(6+8) = (8+6)
(9+3) = (3+9)
So we can say:
(a+b) = (b+a)
