In honor of Bullying Prevention Month, the students of Community Learning Center signed a pledge to not bully and to Treat Others The Way They Want To Be Treated!

“I used to get F’s and D’s on my report card and now I’m getting A’s and B’s because I didn’t study and now that I come to the (Community Learning) Center, I study. PRO TUTORING STUDENT SUCCESS! “I got better at math by learning the definitions because I understood what the teacher was talking about when he used a certain term in class. I used to make low D’s and high F’s but now I’m making high C’s and B’s and I just received an A on my math test!” -J.G. (10th grade student)

ANOTHER AMAZING ADULT STUDENT SUCCESS!
“I am beginning to understand the hows and whys of the charts of grammar. 1st person = I, 2nd person = you, 3rd person = they and how it affects the ‘be’ word: I am, you are, he is, she is, it is, we are, you are, they are. Also, (I understand) the different forms of the ‘be’ word and how to use it properly in a sentence.” -C.G.
1st success – “Since I came from another country I was doing bad in school because I didn’t have that much language structure. So I started the tutoring, and in less than two months I was able to improve from 180 to 215 words in the Florida system (testing). My grades last grading period were C’s and D’s. Now I have all B’s and A’s.” -C.R. (high school student)
2nd success a month later – “I’ve got straight A’s at school now!! When I first got here, my grades were mostly C’s and D’s. At my reading class, we have a rotation schedule that has similar reading and comprehension levels. In August, I was in the lowest level, and now that we started the new semester, I am in the highest level.” -C.R. (high school student)
*In less than three months, C.R. made Honor Roll and then Principal’s List and improved her reading scores from a 3rd grade level to a 9th grade level.
CLC Academy student, G., has been dreaming of becoming a chef. He often cooks at home for his mother, father and siblings and he imagines a day when he can help support his family through his profession.
CLC Executive Director, Jen Nickerson, arranged a trip for G. to meet two award-winning chefs. Zoltan (pictured on right) is an Executive Chef and Kevin (pictured on left) ranks #1 young chef in the United States and #2 in the world. They toured G. through their kitchen and shared so much about their occupation with this bright, young boy. G. was able to ask countless questions and was completely inspired by this amazing experience!
