Is it time?
Signs your child may need reading help
- Guessing at words instead of sounding them out
- Reading slowly, or avoiding reading altogether
- Understanding a story read aloud, but not the same story read alone
- Spelling that doesn’t match how words sound
- Frustration or tears at homework time
Our approach
How we help
It starts with a free assessment. We find exactly which reading skills are solid and which are missing.
Phonics-based, one-on-one. Tutors work with the student individually, building sound-letter skills, decoding, fluency and comprehension step by step. Students practice with our phonics program; one 1st grader told us, “I liked reading and doing the Smart Way (phonics program) exercises. I had fun!” (P., 1st grade).
A program built for your child. Each student gets an individualized plan based on their assessment, and we adjust it as they progress. Our students regularly improve a full grade level with fewer than 30 hours of tutoring.
Affordable for almost everyone. One-on-one tutoring is priced on a sliding scale based on household income.
